See the Future of the Past
Meet the People who Made History
Boston's historic streets come alive through your phone. Founders, revolutionaries, and reformers step out of history to appear before you. Through carefully researched, AI-generated images and voices, these remarkable Americans tell their own stories and recount their roles in the events that shaped the nation.
How it Works
As you explore Boston, you’ll encounter historical figures at locations connected to their lives and stories. The PastPort app notifies you when you’re near a figure, or you can use the in-app map to find them yourself. When you’re ready, tap the person’s name and point your phone’s camera at the ground where you’d like them to appear, and tap the screen again. The person will come to life and share their story. You may listen through your phone’s speakers, but because city streets can be noisy, we recommend using earbuds for the best experience.
